Pixar Film Festival Headed To Australia

by

Film festivals mostly tend to feature a wide collection of upcoming indie films, including many of which that are seeking out major studios for distribution to audiences around the world. Sometimes, though, festivals are put together to celebrate a certain theme or genre, with the moviegoing public allowed to enjoy previously released acclaimed films. There is a film festival comprised solely of Pixar films that is on the way – thing is, though, you’ll have to live in or travel to Australia to experience it!

Announced last month, the Pixar Film Festival will screen five films (via Junkee) from the studio’s storied history – Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, The Incredibles, Cars, and Up. You could certainly make the argument that other films should have been included as well (WALL-E, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, etc.), but that just underlines the sheer number of instant classics from Pixar.

The festival will screen the films in February and March, with each showing for a weekend. It provides an incredible opportunity for those who never had the chance to see the films in theaters, and for others to simply view them all over again on the big screen. One of the best parts of the event is that each screening will only cost $8 (Australian), which amounts to just over $6 in the United States.

Below is a trailer for the festival:

The schedule for the Pixar Film Festival follows:
  • Toy Story — February 21st & 22nd
  • The Incredibles — February 28th & March 1st
  • A Bug’s Life — March 7th & 8th
  • Cars — March 14th & 15th
  • Up! — March 21st & 22nd
Australians, or those headed there, can check with cinemas to see if they will be participating. So far, Event Cinemas, Greater Union, Birch Carroll & Coyle and Village Cinemas have signed on.

Those of us in the U.S. will try and stave off our jealous!
