“American Hustle,” the new film directed by David O. Russell, will be honored with the Hollywood Costume and Production Design Awards, it was announced today by Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive producer of the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards. The honor will be bestowed to Michael Wilkinson and Judy Becker, costume designer and production designer of the film, respectively, at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday evening, October 21, 2013, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Commenting on the announcement, de Abreu said, “As David O. Russell does so well, ‘American Hustle’ focuses on the emotional lives of characters who are conning each other, but also conning themselves as they remake themselves in classic American fashion. For this film, Judy Becker and Michael Wilkinson have created the perfect backdrop for these characters with an authentic and glamorous vision of the 1970s, its spaces and clothes, also manage to look entirely original on the screen. We’re thrilled to be honoring Judy and Michael with these awards.”
The Hollywood Film Awards honors cherished stars, filmmakers, and up-and-coming talent, and traditionally kicks off the film awards season with the biggest stars and top industry executives in attendance.

ABOUT “AMERICAN HUSTLE” A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, “American Hustle” tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Russell’s previous films, “American Hustle” defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes. The film is directed by David O. Russell, written by Eric Warren Singer and David O. Russell, and produced by Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, and Megan Ellison.
